Party Popcorn

At last, Spring Break approaches! A perfect time to rela, and wind down from the weeks of endless tests and homework. And what better way to relax than sitting down with friends and watching a movie? Party Popcorn is the perfect snack for you to have while watching the big screen.

The ingredients are very easy to find. A few are essential, but as the recipe (provided by Bon Vivant Cakes on Youtube) says, you can “improvise with whatever you happen to find in your pantry”. The first essential ingredient is lightly salted white popcorn. This is stressed over and over again. No kettle corn, no butter blast popcorn that you get from the movie theatre, simply plain, lightly salted, white popcorn. Next, is a salty ingredient. Now, this caught my interest, as the recipe suggested shoestring fries (very thin and very crunchy fries) although potato chips will work just as well. The third ingredient is crumbled cookies, where frozen Thin Mints seem to be the provider’s favorite to use. Then you add any fruity cereal, and cereal marshmallows (did you know you can buy bags of the lucky charms marshmallows?). You can add sprinkles if you like, and to hold it all together, drizzle melted chocolate between each layer

Making this recipe is very simple, and really fun to make! I had no trouble building the layers up, just make sure you put parchment paper down on the pan before you start. The shoestring fries turned out to be a great addition, and a fun snack on its own. Of course, there were a lot of fries leftover, and family members are still snacking on them today. You can find them at Walmart. Be sure to let the chocolate set when you’re done, or your popcorn concoction will fall apart.

The end result is an irresistible snack! The layers of salty and sweet really tied everything together and were absolutely delicious. This is one of the few recipes that ask you to take a bunch of your favorite junk foods and pile them on top of each other. Overall, the results of this recipe were worth the mess. As always, stay safe and bake on!
